OK, so it’s been going back and forth for a few months, but it’s final. Here’s the new cover. I liked the hardcover image, although I wasn’t actually crazy about it at first. There were some other options floated around. One included a sliced red onion that was supposed to invoke a bit of Georgia O’Keefe, and I have to admit it was beautiful and abstract and, well, deeply sexual. The “petals” of the onion looked like something my gynecologist would recognize in an instant. It didn’t get past the sales team. There were some various plays with typography and image, and then they came up with this design.
This looks like me walking through the Tuleries garden in Paris, doesn’t it? I mean, it could be my hair. I have a jacket like that. But it’s a stock image. Mike says I’ll probably forever be answering the question “So where are you walking?” (Actually, I think its in the Bois de Bologne to the west of Paris.)
The reading guide isn’t going to be in the paperback. Instead, we decided to put in a book club menu guide. A version of it is online now, and I’ll be updating it to include the one from the book in the next few days.
