Book tour update

We’ll be heading out on tour this week to promote the paperback edition, which went on sale today. First stop is Auntie’s in Spokane, Wash. It’s sort of like going home, since Mike grew up in Spokane and his family still lives there. (His brother is actually the Riverside Neighborhood Council.) My father-in-law had convinced us to start the paperback tour here; the sad part is that he isn’t here for it; he died in April.

Next week, I’ll be visiting Louisville. More family connections there, too. My brother has lived there for ages. My twin nieces did something alarming recently by graduating from high school. I still picture them as six-year-olds. We will doing a wine tasting and book discussion at Carmichael’s Bookstore on Sept. 10th

I’ll be cooking in Food for Thought Tent at the Bookmarks Festival on Sept. 13th. I hit San Francisco’s fabulous Book Passage on the 23rd Sept. In October, I’ll be at The Big Read book festival in St. Louis.

I’m scheduled to do an event at the Garden District Book Shop in New Orleans on Sept. 11th. Even with the recent assault by Hurricane Gustav, I believe this event is expected to go forward. I’ll let you know.

Other upcoming events include a few close to home

  • At Third Place Books in Bothell, Wa., on the 15th September, I’ll read, plus offer up some wine for tasting
  • On the 19th Sept., I’ll be hosting a cooking demonstration based on classic French recipes from the book, an event developed by Ciao Thyme andVillage Books in Bellingham. Cost is $60 and includes a signed copy of the paperback. The event is limited to 26 people. Call 360-927-4890 for details.
  • And last in September, but by far from the least, we’ll have a night of a lively discussion, plus nibbles from the book, a wine and cheese tasting and a culinary quiz at Elliott Bay Books in Seattle.

We’ll also finalizing details on October events in Chicago, Minneapolis, L.A. and possibly Denver. I try to keep these updated on booktour.com, to which you can subscribe and also get updates on other author events in your area. Or check out the list on kathleenflinn.com.
